New Mexico Cyclists
We Need Your Help!
Recent years have had mixed messages for cyclists in New Mexico. The Mayor of Albuquerque has expressed his intent to make the Duke City a cycling-friendly mecca. At the same time, Roy Sekreta was killed at Comanche and the bike path by a motor vehicle in March and, more recently, Dave Schoenwald was hit by a car and severly injured while riding on Tramway. As many of you know, the cycling community lost Paula Higgins in 2006, and James Quinn in 2007. In response to these tragic incidents along with the dangerous encounters that we as cyclists face all too often,
Olev Rapido has started a cycling awareness initiative.
The first phase of our initiative has been to disseminate cycling-friendly messages via bumper stickers. You can get one of our fine bumper stickers for yourself at
these locations.
Over 1,000 bumper stickers were also given out at the Santa Fe and Albuquerque Centuries.
You can really help us to continue this initiative by making a donation today.
Contributions can be made via PayPal from a PayPal account, by credit card, or by check (ie. a PayPal account is not required). Alternatively, checks may be mailed directly to:
Olev Rapido Bicycle Awareness Initiative
1309 Arizona St. NE
Albuquerque, NM 87110
The cost of each bumper sticker is less than a dollar, so contributions of any amount will be helpful. This is an opportunity for all cyclists to make a difference. Join our fine sponsors and other individuals who have already contributed so that together we can improve the quality and safety of bicycling in New Mexico.
Thank you!
